The nursery is based in the Methodist Church, situated in Epsom Town Centre. The nursery was opened in 1998 by members of the church
The nursery is registered to take a maximum of 32 children per session, aged from two and a half to four years old.
At our most recent Ofsted inspection in October 2020 we received the rating of outstanding in the area of the children’s personal development, behaviour and welfare and good in the other three areas giving us an overall rating of Good. You can read the whole report by going to the OFSTED website and searching for Epsom Methodist Nursery:
We are proud of our warm and nurturing learning environment and strong community links. We plan our teaching and activities based on children's current interests, to enable children to seek challenge and build on their skills. We have plenty of visitors from the local community to enrich children's experiences of the world as they learn. We are very lucky to have built a relationship with The Elder's Residential Care Home and thoroughly enjoy our events and time together with our elderly friends.
The Setting operates from the largest of several halls in the church complex. The staff team set up the nursery every morning and pack away at the end of each session. The hall has its own nursery toilets and basins, large storage cupboards and a fenced off outdoor area. We have awnings over the outside area to provide shade and shelter from rain.
We also have thermal curtains which are used in the colder months. This enables the whole area to be used in all weathers with free flow between indoors and outdoors. There is good wheelchair access to the whole church complex. There is a small rear quiet room which is used for teaching and small group activities. The kitchen is next to the main hall and there is access via a hatch. The setting has sole use of the hall during the opening hours. We also have access to blossoming church gardens, in which we enjoy many activities enjoying nature's wonderful resources using all of our senses. We celebrate 'Outdoor Classroom Day' twice a year and regularly enjoy learning outdoors.
We visit our local park, which is five minutes away during warmer weather. We also make use of the fact that we are in the centre of the town and we have walked the children into town to buy fruit from the market, visit the fire station or to visit the library.
The setting is currently open five mornings a week from 9.15 – 12.15 for 37 weeks of the year.
Thirty two children attend each session.
We also offer a lunch club for our older children.
This runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12.15-2.15pm.
